JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Facilities Director, the primary responsibilities of the Custodial (housekeeping) Manager include a broad range of management functions. They include but are not limited to: fiscal, budget and payroll management, Kronos management, overtime administration and verification, human resource management and development, supply and equipment management, labor relations management, customer relations and communications. Concurrent supervisory functions to include supervision of housekeeping personnel through subordinates for daily operations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for management and supervision for a large staff of service employees engaged in providing services to a very diverse community in an academic setting.

  • Responsible for developing a supervisory structure that is required to manage housekeeping services in accordance with specifications of University wide requirements with a specified budget and allocation of hours.

  • Serves in a dual capacity as Kronos officer in conjunction with overtime administration and verification for the entire Housekeeping Department working collaboratively with the managers and Director.

  • Responsible for supervision and scheduling of Campus Wide Utility Worker’s and the administration of overtime for said workers, working collaboratively with the managers and Director.

  • Responsible for ensuring that all assigned Housekeeping vehicles are kept in proper working order in conjunction with the adherence to the Universities Policies and Procedures.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of appropriate training programs and schedules for employees engaged in providing housekeeping services. The primary purpose is to ensure that quality services are delivered within set schedules and specifications while familiarizing employees with proper usage of equipment and chemicals as well as standard safety practices.

  • Assist in tracking and monitoring employees and supervisors progress in the delivery of all housekeeping services through Quality Control inspections and providing direct feedback to both employees and supervisors concerning the quality of his/her progress.

  • Develops specific contracts for a variety of housekeeping work in conjunction with proposals based on housekeeping audit reviews.

  • Responsible for payroll management for the assigned worksite. This includes but is not limited to: implementing control over KRONOS for overtime and special event work, attendance, vacation, sick, personal and bereavement time. The primary purpose of this function is to maintain the integrity of the existing payroll system including its administration and accuracy.

  • Responsible for ensuring that all housekeepers have a safe environment in which to work and adherence to all procedures and policies in the operation of equipment and the usage of chemicals.

  • Responsible for ordering and maintaining a sustainable level of chemicals and equipment in order to conduct the full range of housekeeping task as per contractual obligations.

  • Perform other duties as required and assignment by the Facility Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or comparable field is highly preferred.

  • Minimum of four (3) years of housekeeping managerial experience.

  • Strong computer skills to include Kronos, Excel, Word, Visio and Power Point.

  • Excellent knowledge and understanding in the implementation/enforcement of policies and procedures in regards to safety guidelines, proper chemical usage, OSHA guidelines, handling of bio-hazard materials, and preparation of accident reports and worker’s comp requirements.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely during presentations in conjunction with the ability to prepare written assignments and training documents without assistance.

  • Strong administrative and organizational skills.

  • Strong leadership qualities, sound judgment, superior decision-making and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to deal effectively with service staff, management, staff and outside contractors.

  • Ability to work all shifts including weekend based on operational needs and/or emergencies.
