Job Description:

Compass Group, the world’s leading contract foodservice company, has aGreat Opportunityfor career development and growth as aSeniorProject Managerin ourChicago, ILoffice supporting Levy, a business sector of Compass Group whose diverse portfolio includes award winning restaurants, iconic sports and entertainment venues as well as the Grammy Awards, PGA Championship, US Open Tennis Tournament and many others.

The role of the Senior Project Manager is to plan, execute, and deliver the project according to agreed deadlines and within budget. Additionally it includes the management of direct reports including project specialists and project managers. Responsibilities:

  • Manage direct reports within the strategic projects team.

  • Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders

  • Develop full-scale project plans and associated project documents including resource needs

  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations; liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis

  • Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle

  • Communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion and manage those expectations on-going

  • Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project

  • Manage the project budget

  • Determine and assess need for additional staff and make recommendations as appropriate during project cycle

  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team

  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path

  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans

  • Conduct the project post mortem and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements


  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA desired

  • 7+ years experience of managing enterprise projects, including 3+ years experience supervising and directing a team of consultants/project managers

  • “Big 4” consulting experience preferred

  • Project leadership experience supporting sales & operations executives and their initiatives from securing new business, transitioning the opening of new accounts, stabilizing existing business and retention

  • PMP certification

  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office programs and Microsoft Project

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with a positive, can-do attitude

  • Ability to work well under pressure as a key member of a fast paced team

  • Travel as needed, approximately 30%

  • Outstanding presentation skills and selling skills to manage implementation of key programs.
